This morning I went to school for Pumpkin match with dad's. We measured and weighed the pumpkins before we carved them up. We had a great time. -Bill

Lauren's Church Choir Debut
Lauren is in the Angel Singers choir at our church, and this Sunday was her first performance on stage. She sang "Give Me Oil in My Lamp" and she did fantastic! My pictures didn't turn out the greatest but she got right up in the first row center. She has really enjoyed her weekly choir practice and jumped right up there with no issue on Sunday.
The Biscuit Brothers Concert
Central Market was hosting a fundraiser for a local theater arts group, and part of the event was a free concert by the Biscuit Brothers, a local children's music act. The girls just love them and couldn't wait to see them. They have to be two of the nicest musicians, and you can tell they love their job and love the kids! When they took a break between sets, they just stayed around and joked with the kids, took photos, and gave high-fives. The girls were so excited to get their picture with the Biscuit Brothers. We had a great afternoon sitting outside under the huge oak trees listening to music, letting the girls dance and play on the playground. It was a really fun day.

Sweet Berry Farm
It's been a few days since we've posted, but a lot has been going on. So, I will start with our last little adventure the weekend before last and come to the present.
We took the girls to Sweet Berry Farm, which is about an hour outside of Austin. They had a corn maze, pumpkins laying around, sand art, hay rides, and a field of flowers to pick from (all you can put in a 16 oz cup for $1 - what a deal!). They also had a fenced in area of goats that we would feed corn husks. It was a nice afternoon. Here are some photos:

Facepainting
Two weekends ago (I know - I am behind on my posts) we went to a event hosted by some businesses in our community and the girls got their faces painted. Lauren picked a butterfly and Emma was about to pick a flower but then noticed the longhorn and had to get that. She wanted me to take a picture to show her teacher My Chris. He has been corrupting her for the last few months. She even knows the fight song. -Bill

Lauren's Daisy Induction
Lauren had her first official Daisy Scout meeting yesterday where she learned the Girl Scout pledge, the handshake and got her Daisy vest. The ladies behind her are the troop co-leaders.

Going Batty
Lauren's first field trip for kindergarten was going to see the bats fly out from under the Congress Ave bridge last Friday. She had been learning about bats all week, and the last lesson was to see them in action coming out at dusk. We really had a fun time and made an entire evening of it. We drove downtown after dinner and ate at Threadgill's with one of Lauren's classmates and his family. The restaurant is about 2 blocks from the bridge, so after dinner we walked over and found a spot on the grass underneath the bridge. Lauren found her other classmates and they ran around acting like bats.
We are on our way...Lauren has her bat mask.
Cool bat sculpture - it spins with the wind.

You break you Buy!
Emma really wanted to get out of the house yesterday since she was trapped inside for the last 4 days. I took her to Target to look at Halloween decorations. She was picking up a snow globe and knocked over 7 ghosts. Lucky for us only 4 of them broke. So now we have 4 broken ghosts at home that we will try to superglue back together. This is our first experience with the kids breaking something at a store but something tells me it won't be the last. -Bill
Flu Free!
We stared the swine flu right in the snout and conquered it! Lauren even ate a piece of bacon in celebration yesterday at our breakfast after church. No one has any symptoms of the flu anymore, and hope to not catch another strain this year!

My Relative's "Sick" Humor
We received a get well soon card from my aunt and uncle in Michigan, which was both sweet and quite funny. Had to share.

Another One Bites The Dust
We were almost out of the clear and then last night, Emma did something entirely unusual. She did not eat dinner....she passed up pizza....and a super frosted cookie. We got home from church and when I got her ready for bath I thought "boy, she feels hot". The thermometer agreed. Fever and cough, so she's home today which means I am too. At least now I am well trained on what to do just going through this last week with Lauren!
